Jesus: Liar, Lunatic, or Lord?

Jesus: Liar, Lunatic, or Lord?

You might be thinking:

Yes, I can understand all of those reactions.

So, what's this all about?

This unusual and surprising question comes from the fact that some people, over the years, have claimed that Jesus was NOT actually God, but HE WAS a "great moral teacher" and even a "prophet", such as Mohammad.

C.S. Lewis, the famous Christian author, thought about these comments about Jesus and then realized something:
Based on the claims of Jesus, these statements are logically impossible.

Why did C.S. Lewis say this?

Because Jesus, unequivocally, claimed to be Deity, equal to the God of the Old Testamant. And, therefore, if He was NOT that God, but claimed to be, then there are only two other logical conclusions:

- He knew He was not God, and was therefore, a blatant liar, or
- He did NOT know he was not God, and was therefore, a delusional schizophrenic (what some people disrespectfully call a lunatic).

We are using the term "lunatic" here because it was used in the time of C.S. Lewis, but do not condone the derogatory and insensitive nature of the term. More about this later.
