Mark 2.5-7
A woman wiped Jesus feet with her tears, kissed His feet, and poured perfume on His feet. He proclaims that her sins are forgiven. Then he turned toward the woman and said to Simon, "Do you see this woman? I came into your house. You did not give me any water for my feet, but she wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. You did not give me a kiss, but this woman, from the time I entered, has not stopped kissing my feet. You did not put oil on my head, but she has poured perfume on my feet. Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven—as her great love has shown. But whoever has been forgiven little loves little." Then Jesus said to her, "Your sins are forgiven." The other guests began to say among themselves, "Who is this who even forgives sins?" Luke 7.44-49
Jesus poses a small riddle to the listener, using logic to prove His ability and power to both forgive sin and heal. Which is easier: to say, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Get up and walk'?
But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins."
So he said to the paralyzed man, "Get up, take your mat and go home."
Mathew 9.5,6
When Jesus perceived their thoughts, he answered them, "Why do you question in your hearts? Which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Rise and walk’? But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins" — he said to the man who was paralyzed —"I say to you, rise, pick up your bed and go home." And immediately he rose up before them and picked up what he had been lying on and went home, glorifying God. Luke 5:22-25
